Well what can you say?! It's been a remarkable few months for the mortgage market and with record interest rate cuts, the Bank of England base rate has now stayed at the new record low of 0.5% for a few months. Economists seem to feel that these low rates are with us for the next few months at least, but of course these are only predictions, not facts.
First Time Buyers
There are however small signs that the first time buyer market is starting to move. Rate cuts, stamp duty breaks and drops in property prices are all now filtering through to make buying more attractive, although reasonably sized deposits are needed with most if not all of the deals needing a minimum 10% deposit. Re-Mortgages
With the Bank of England base rate at an all time low, there are some low rate long term fixed deals available, the advice would seem to be grab them while you can, although the betterdeals are generally only available for borrowers with lower loan to values, there are currently decent deals for anyone with a loan to value of up to 85%.
